My middle FICO score hasn't improved despite following recommendations and I'm closing soon — will it improve in time?

Three months in is early, so a flat score is not a failure signal yet. When we point people to credit help, we refer a company called My Credit Guy. A word of caution first: most credit restoration and repair outfits are scams, and even the legitimate ones cannot do anything you could not do yourself. What you are really paying for is a clear plan and someone holding you to it. If you would rather run that plan on your own, you can. On timing, a legitimate program almost always quotes a window of about four to six months. Three months is roughly the fastest we have ever seen a real bump land, so a still-flat score at this point is neither surprising nor alarming. The one hard requirement is actually following the plan. We have watched people keep paying the monthly fee while running their cards back up, which defeats the entire point. If your closing sits on the far side of that four-to-six-month window, there is a good chance meaningful improvement arrives before you need it. Nobody can promise a specific score by a specific date, so keep your loan officer looped in. They can run a what-if analysis to estimate where you would land, and once you are in a live transaction, a rapid rescore captures gains faster than normal reporting cycles.
