Almost always worth pricing, because on a jumbo balance even a small rate improvement is real money. An eighth of a percent that would be a rounding error on a modest loan can be a meaningful annual saving on a multimillion-dollar balance. In dollar terms, the threshold for a worthwhile jumbo refinance is lower than most people assume. Two things shape your options at the top end: - Super jumbo pricing. Once a balance climbs past roughly two and a half million dollars, fewer investors will buy the loan, and pricing tends to run a bit higher and stiffer than standard jumbo. The door stays open; the field of lenders narrows, which makes shopping matter more. - Lender dispersion. Jumbo lenders differ from one another far more than they do on conforming loans, so two quotes on the same file can land noticeably apart. We will not promise a rate or a direction, because nobody can. The way to find out whether there is an opportunity for you: have your loan priced across several jumbo and super-jumbo investors and compare the results against what you hold. Running that comparison across the investors we shop is exactly what the free Roadmap conversation is for.
