How many weeks is reasonable for a builder to address punch-list items after closing on new construction?

There's no fixed number of weeks that counts as reasonable. The real issue is leverage, and most of yours ends at closing. Timelines vary by builder, region, and what's on the list. What doesn't vary: once your financing funds and the sale closes, the builder has your money and much less incentive to move quickly. Items that would have been fixed in days before closing can drag out for weeks after. If you haven't closed yet: - Get a real home inspection, beyond the builder's blue-tape walkthrough. - Document every item in writing. - Push to get the important items resolved before closing, or at least formally committed to with a timeline as a condition of closing. If you've already closed: keep everything in writing, reference your warranty coverage, and stay politely persistent. A documented list tied to your warranty is your best tool once the leverage of an unfunded loan is gone. Use the window before closing while you still hold the cards.
