Am I crazy to buy an expensive house so early in my career?

Not necessarily. It comes down to whether the payment works today and whether your career trajectory is one you have real reason to believe in. Someone early in a growing, in-demand field (medical, engineering, and similar) is likely to see income rise over time, and that trajectory can make a purchase that feels like a stretch today sit much more comfortably in a few years. Stable, in-demand work is a genuine tailwind for buying bigger, earlier. The caution flag is career volatility rather than youth. Feast-or-famine, commission-heavy incomes (including our own worlds of real estate and mortgage) can swing unpredictably, and that argues for a more conservative payment. A steady upward path argues for more room. One honest note: buying a home is a big step, and some buyer's remorse can show up no matter how ready you look on paper, so your comfort with the decision matters as much as the math. Nobody can promise your income rises on schedule or that the home appreciates, so don't buy on the assumption that either is guaranteed. Buy on a payment that works today, backed by a career you genuinely believe in, and an early, ambitious purchase can be a smart move.
